Special Report: The Art Behind the Sports Science

In partnership with the English Institute of Sport (EIS), we present ‘The Art Behind the Sports Science’. EIS have given us fascinating and unprecedented insight into the remarkable impact they have had on high performance since their inception 20 years ago, from shifting the perceptions of sports science by evolving the use of data, to being leaders of innovation and advocating for the 'Performance Lifestyle'.

The People at the Heart of Extraordinary Performance

Welcome to The Art Behind the Sports Science.

EIS have contributed to over 1,000 Olympic and Paralympic medals since launching in 2002, and this Special Report looks to discover how they have evolved to deliver those exceptional results.

“The perception has shifted from sports science as something done in a lab by people with white coats to something that’s done with coaches and athletes on the field of play, by the side of the pool or at the track,” says Kevin Currell, the EIS’s Director of Performance Support & Science, who believes the Institute has played a part in instigating that shift in the UK. “We work hand in hand with the coaches and athletes to help drive their performance.”
